Episode 40: Britta Noble, former studio owner & founder of Social Distance Sweat, on owning a franchise & more

“Especially because people’s working environments look different now [work from home], [they’re] realizing the mental aspect of a workout.”

-Britta Noble, fitness concept owner

Episode 40 is a fun one because our guest is one of my best friends, Britta Noble. She’s a fitness industry expert, past owner of a Pure Barre studio and now owns and operates Social Distance Sweat. We stay (mostly) on track in this episode, but certainly dive right in—and Britta will tell you the truth! She talks about what it was like owning a Pure Barre studio, the good and bad of owning a franchise, her advice to those who want to own their own gym, how the fitness landscape has changed over the years, giving ourselves grace through our different fitness seasons and more. It’s a great one, guys. Let’s get to it.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • Britta’s experience buying a Pure Barre franchise and owning & operating a studio

  • the ins and outs of fitness franchises (the good & the bad)

  • her advice for those wanting to start a gym or buy a franchise

  • how she sold her Pure Barre studio

  • her new outdoor sculpt classes, Social Distance Sweat

  • her thoughts on how fitness has changed and what it might look like going forward

  • her own fitness journey and the idea of giving ourselves grace through our different seasons of life

  • & more

All about Britta:

Britta is a fitness lover, instructor, mom of 2 (and 3/4), wife, and general lover of all things healthy living. As the former owner of Pure Barre Preston Hollow (2014-2018), she has taught thousands of Pure Barre classes and also holds her certification in Yoga Sculpt through Corepower Yoga. Her current fitness endeavor, celebrating its first birthday this Summer, combines elements of barre, yoga, and HIIT in various outdoor East Dallas locations. Dubbed “Social Distance Sweat,” the concept came to life when many were craving the social interaction and external motivation during Covid-induced indoor studio closures; today, it remains with a loyal following as a way to enjoy the great outdoors while getting a great workout - all in 45 minutes.

When not encouraging her classes to sink one inch lower in their squat, Britta enjoys exploring the outdoors with her husband (arguably way more fit than she — three-time Ironman triathlete, ultra-marathoner, and CrossFit fiend) and two kids - Summit and Camilla - all while trying to squeeze in as much travel and adventure as possible before Baby 3 makes her arrival in August.
