Episode 32: Hensley Ellefritz, boutique fitness consultant, on what it takes for a gym to truly thrive

“When you look at the concepts that have lasted as long as they have, those are typically the ones with the strongest essence and idea of who they are and what they represent beyond just the workout they offer (and they have the strongest sales and marketing infrastructure to support times like 2020).”

-Hensley Ellefritz, founder of Hensley Ellefritz Fitness Consulting

Welcome to episode 32 of The Fitness Insider podcast! Today’s guest is Hensley Ellefritz, the founder of her own Hensley Ellefritz Fitness Consulting. Not only does she have a cool name, but she should legit consider writing a book about how fitness studios can optimize their brands and businesses. She’s extremely well spoken and has so much information and advice to give—and a decade of success in fitness sales, so she’s seen some things in her days. She helps gyms successfully launch, grow and thrive through her own methodology that is proven to work. This episode is perfect for any studio owners out there as well as anyone in the fitness industry—or if you’re just curious to see what goes on behind the curtain. Beware: we nerd out pretty hard in this one.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • how she started her consulting company after over a decade of experience in fitness sales and training

  • what her company does for clients

  • some of the issues studios have & how to remedy them

  • which gyms will survive this pandemic and why

  • how to navigate pricing/membership

  • how we feel about “doing doubles” at studios

  • realness on sexy studio instructor photoshoots

  • her thoughts on virtual fitness

  • if you want to open a gym, when is the best time

  • & more

All about Hensley:

Hensley lives in Dallas, Texas and is the founder of her own consulting company called Hensley Ellefritz Fitness Consulting. She began her career at Equinox, then the fastest growing premium fitness brand in the U.S. Earning consistent recognition as a top sales performer within the brand, she spent subsequent years at the sales helm over two of the largest household boutique fitness brands. Hensley worked closely with hundreds of studio owners, most of whom wanted to expand their business success but didn’t have an approach or methodology to deliver predictable results. Having listened to their stories and partnered in their journeys, she developed her own methodology to help boutique fitness studios successfully launch, grow and thrive. She’s packaged her 10 years of knowledge working with three of the most well-known fitness brands, into three 12-week programs, targeted toward the three primary challenges I’ve witnessed studios struggle with. Her programs will drive you fast and long-lasting revenue. And she has the proven track record to back it up.
